Family Ceilidh all ages, Twenty-six years ago Alice Freeman took up a challenge started by Maureen (Rankin) MacKenzie of Mabou by launching Thursday night weekly summer ceilidhs at the Inverness Fire Hall and featuring up and coming local talent. These ceilidhs became some of the first stage experiences for many performers, often earning a paying gig or money to be saved for post-secondary studies. Weekdays Alice can usually be found at her Bear Paw Gift Shop just across the street from the Inverness Fire Hall and next to Freeman’s Pharmacy. Drop in and browse her excellent selection of music, books, crafts, and gifts – you won’t be disappointed and you may even exchange a Gaelic phrase or two or hear a Gaelic story.
